Our lawyers are recognised for their experience in complex and often innovative transactions, examples of which are:

  • Guangdong Yudean Group: Advised in relation to one of the first Chinese central government approved foreign transactions for a Chinese Provincial government, being the acquisition of a 7.5% interest in the Narrabri Coal Project which included the establishment of joint venture and long term coal off-take arrangements.
  • Guangdong Yudean Group: Advised in relation to the proposed acquisition of a 100% interest in privately owned operating coal mines in New South Wales.
  • Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration & Production Corporation: Advised in relation to the Australian aspects of Sinopec's US$1.5 billion acquisition of a 15% stake in Australia Pacific LNG, a joint venture company established to extract coal seam gas for processing into liquefied natural gas (Queensland).
  • Santos Limited: Advised on various aspects of the sell-down of a 40 per cent interest in the Gladstone LNG Project to PETRONAS.
  • Peabody: Coordinated due diligence investigations for the acquisition of Excel Coal Limited.
  • Several Chinese State Owned Enterprises: Continued assistance to several Chinese companies in identifying and advising on investment in Australian resources projects.
  • Qld State Government: Advised on various aspects of the sale of Qld State forests and plantations.
  • Super A-Mart: Advised the vendor in the sale of the Super A-Mart retail chain to a private equity consortium for approximately $500M.
